Important Message
It is important for users to be aware of the intention of the Language App and its ongoing access through the Taranaki Kindergarten Association. The Language App is only meant for use by staff and whānau of the Taranaki Kindergarten Association. This App is a taonga and it is crucial that the contents and the App are treated as a taonga by all users. This requires all users to utilise the Language App and its contents in an appropriate manner and to avoid sharing access to other individuals or organisations.
It is expected that the Language App and password will not be shared beyond the staff and whānau of the Taranaki Kindergarten Association. Any individual requests for access must be directed to the head office of the Taranaki Kindergarten Association and any organisational requests for a similar Language App must be directed to Te Reo o Taranaki.
Te Papahou – Taranaki Language App
Te Reo o Taranaki (“TRT”) have created a language App that can be used in education environments. The development of this App aligns to two of the four strategic priorities for TRT, which are Acquisition and Awareness. The purpose of the App is to support learners of Taranaki Reo through providing immediate access to learning resources when required. The App is not intended to replace learning but it is intended to support learners on their journey.
TRT were approached by the Taranaki Kindergarten Association who were wanting to have access to a resource that would assist their staff and whānau with their ongoing cultural awareness efforts.
This initiative was borne from anecdotal evidence sourced from our students, clients, strategic partners, and research. The feedback received revealed an appetite for tech-based solutions with dynamic delivery of te reo me ōna tikanga and cultural awareness learning.
The Language App contains Taranaki Karakia, Taranaki Waiata, Waiata Tamariki, Kupu, Whakataukī, Kīwaha, Mihimihi and Orokati/Tohu Oro.
